In 1976, Carlo Scandola set up his workshop 1,100 metres up in the Lessini mountains — and never came down. Fifty years on, every piece of furniture is still born on that same spot, from whole solid wood logs. No MDF. No veneer. Only real wood.

The workshop
that stayed
on the mountain.
While everyone else was moving down to the plains, Carlo Scandola stayed. He set up his workshop in Bosco Chiesanuova — so his village wouldn't empty out, and because there, at 1,100 metres, wood is in its natural environment.
The small workshop grew into a 10,000 sqm factory — on that exact same spot, with 62 craftsmen from the same villages, many of them second generation. That continuity is what you buy along with a piece of Scandola furniture: a home that knows where its wood came from.

The signature material
Legno Vecchio
Wood reclaimed from the beams of old barns and mountain houses — with its knots, its woodworm marks, the traces of a first life. Its tree was felled a century ago.
No surface ever repeats, and nothing is printed — which is why no one can copy it. Scandola is one of the very few manufacturers to work it into a complete kitchen.

Everything in one factory
The logs arrive whole in Bosco Chiesanuova. Drying, cutting, sanding, painting — no stage is outsourced. And the wood offcuts heat the factory itself.

Toy-safe paints
Every finish is done with water-based paints in 35 shades — non-toxic and certified. The same wood and the same paint carry through from the kitchen to every room of the home.

Whole logs, not panels
100% solid wood from controlled reforestation forests in Salzburg and Scandinavia. No MDF, no veneer, no panel glue — and zero formaldehyde.
