How to choose an Italian kitchen in Athens
Style, materials, worktops, budget — and most importantly, who you'll design it with. A practical guide from the team that curates 17 brands in Neo Psychiko.
In short
To choose the right Italian kitchen in Athens, follow four steps: pick a style (modern, classic or transitional), the door and worktop materials, your budget, and — above all — who will design it with you.
- A curator of many houses gives you choice; a single-brand dealer gives you one catalogue.
- The door material (laminate, Fenix, lacquer, solid wood) sets durability, feel and cost.
- The worktop (quartz or porcelain) is an investment in durability — not a place to cut corners.
- Cost depends on house, layout and materials; we settle it with you in the study. Delivery 4–12 weeks.
- Italian or Greek-made? The maker decides, not the country: ask for the specifications, warranty and delivery time in writing.

Modern, classic or transitional?
Style is the first decision, because it drives everything after — materials, handles, colours, lighting.
| Style | Character | Suits | Indicative houses |
|---|---|---|---|
| Modern | Clean lines, matte surfaces, handleless, integrated appliances. | New builds, lofts, open spaces. | GF Interiors, Pedini, Gentili, Sira |
| Classic | Solid wood, mouldings, warm tones, a timeless aesthetic. | Character apartments, country homes. | Scandola, Callesella, Febal Casa |
| Transitional | A balance of modern and classic — modern lines with warm materials. | Those who want neither cold nor heavy. | Febal Casa, Arbi, Gentili |
You don't have to decide alone. In the showroom we show all three in real compositions, and often land on a combination you hadn't considered. Door materials & worktops
This is where everyday durability is decided. Two choices: what the cabinets are finished in, and what worktop you fit.
Doors
| Material | Feel | Durability | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Melamine / Laminate | Matte or wood texture, wide range. | Very good, economical. | € |
| Fenix NTM | Ultra-matte, anti-fingerprint, "heals" micro-scratches. | Excellent. | €€ |
| Lacquer (matte/gloss) | Uniform colour, depth, a premium look. | Very good, needs care. | €€€ |
| Solid wood / Veneer | Warm, natural, timeless. | Excellent, ages beautifully. | €€€ |
Worktops
| Material | Properties | Curated partners |
|---|---|---|
| Quartz | Non-porous, stain-resistant, uniform. | Caesarstone |
| Porcelain / Sintered stone | Heat & scratch resistant, slim profiles, large slabs. | Ascale, Caesarstone |
For appliances and systems we work with Miele and Bertazzoni (built-in, ranges), Franke (sinks & systems), Invisacook (induction beneath the worktop) and Bora (cooktops with integrated extraction). The kitchen and the appliances are designed together — not separately.

Budget: how much does an Italian kitchen cost?
The real cost depends on size, materials and appliances — which is why we design and cost it together with you, with a study and 3D visualisation.
Every house we curate is distinguished by exceptional, non-negotiable quality. There are no “better” or “worse” choices — the difference comes purely from the materials used (solid wood versus melamine, for example), the level of customisation, and the identity of each brand.
| Philosophy & Materials | What it means for your design | Houses |
|---|---|---|
| Contemporary Materials & Smart Investment | Top build quality in modern, hard-wearing materials (such as advanced-technology melamine). They offer outstanding performance for the price, because you are not paying a premium for the name. | Gentili Cucine, Arbi Arredobagno |
| Flexibility & Contemporary Design | A vast range of options and materials (melamine included) that adapt to any need. An ideal choice for contemporary spaces (the ONDA line stands out). | Febal Casa |
| Authenticity & Solid Wood | For those who love natural materials. They work almost exclusively in solid wood, which is reflected in the higher value and the longevity of their pieces. | Scandola Mobili, Callesella |
| High Customisation & Innovation | Handcrafted detailing, premium finishes and advanced compositions. They focus on complete customisation for demanding architectural projects. | Sira Cucine, GF Interiors, Pedini |
| Architectural Applications | Houses specialising in doors, boiserie and bespoke joinery to the highest specification, for the complete finishing of a space. | Barausse, Atelier Casabella |
The exact cost depends on the house, the composition, the materials and the dimensions — we will give you an accurate quote after the design and 3D visualisation.

Our role here: we adapt materials, layout and brand so the result fits your budget — without losing quality.
Dealer or curator?
The same kitchen, bought from a different partner, gives a different result. The difference isn't the product — it's who stands beside you.
A curator of many houses
- You choose among 17 houses — the solution adapts to you, not you to one catalogue.
- We design your whole home: kitchen, worktops, appliances, wardrobes, living — in one appointment.
- Independent advice: we recommend the right brand for your need & budget.
- After-sales with no asterisks — adjustments, spare parts, service years later.
- 30 years of experience in Italian kitchens. Our clients recommend us to their own.
A single-brand dealer
- One range, one catalogue — the solution has to fit into it.
- Usually kitchen only; the other rooms elsewhere.
- An incentive to recommend what they sell, not what fits.
- After-sales often dependent on the manufacturer.
We are curators, not dealers. We travel to the Italian factories and personally select each house. That's why the kitchen is only the beginning — and we often design your entire home with you.
Italian or Greek-made?
Both routes can give you a good kitchen. The difference lies in what you can check before you sign.
A kitchen from an Italian house is made by that Italian house, to specifications the house states in its own catalogues, and carries a manufacturer warranty of at least 2 years, which many houses extend. A Greek-made kitchen may come from a workshop or a factory; its quality depends on the maker, so ask for the same details in writing. For kitchen furniture we curate Italian houses only, and we show you their specifications in the design study, before you decide.
| Point | Italian house, through MobilCasa | Greek-made |
|---|---|---|
| Who makes it | The Italian house itself | Ask the maker to state it |
| Carcase (cabinet body) | Stated in the house's catalogue, e.g. 18 mm particleboard with emission class E1 or CARB P2 (depending on the house) | Ask for material, thickness and emission class in writing |
| Warranty | At least 2 years, from the manufacturer; many houses extend it | Set by the maker; ask for it in writing |
| Delivery | 4–12 weeks | Set by the maker |
| Colours and finishes | The catalogues of every house we curate | Ask for the full colour catalogue |
Wherever you buy, ask for five things in writing: carcase material and thickness, formaldehyde emission class (E1 or CARB P2), make of the hardware, warranty length and delivery time. What each one means, house by house, is explained in our guide to how a kitchen is built.
The carcase specifications come from the catalogues and price lists of Gentili Cucine, Febal Casa, GF Interiors and Scandola Mobili.

From the first visit to after-sales
What people ask before they visit
How much does an Italian kitchen cost?
The exact cost depends on the house, composition and materials. The 3D design for the presentation is free.
How long does delivery take?
The typical delivery time for made-to-order Italian furniture is 4–12 weeks. We handle production, transport and installation, keeping you updated at every stage.
Are you dealers or curators?
Curators. We select and design with you from 17 brands — we don't just sell a catalogue. We start with the kitchen and often reach living and wardrobes.
Do I need to know what I want before I come?
No. Bring ideas or a floor plan and we design it together from scratch. Our job is to translate what you imagine into a real space.
Are the products under warranty?
Yes — all furniture and appliances are covered by a manufacturer warranty of at least 2 years (many houses extend it), with our own after-sales for adjustments and service.
Where is the showroom?
267 Mesogeion Avenue, Neo Psychiko, Athens. Monday–Saturday 10:00–14:00 and Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 17:30–20:30. Phone +30 210 674 8332.
Is an Italian kitchen better than a Greek-made one?
The maker decides, not the country. A kitchen from an Italian house has specifications stated in the house's catalogue, a manufacturer warranty of at least 2 years and 4–12 weeks' delivery. With a Greek-made kitchen, ask the maker for the same details in writing. For kitchen furniture we curate Italian houses only.
What should I ask before buying a kitchen?
Ask in writing for the carcase material and thickness, the formaldehyde emission class (E1 or CARB P2), the make of the hardware, the warranty length and the delivery time. For the Italian houses we curate, we go through them with you in the design study, from each house's catalogues.
