Wardrobes & Walk-in Closets: How to Choose
Hinged, sliding or walk-in? What depth you need, how much room a walk-in takes, how the interior is organised and which Italian houses make them. We design them with you, to the measurements of your room, from our showroom in Neo Psychiko.
In short
A hinged wardrobe gives the cleanest access and the most interior fittings, a sliding wardrobe saves the space in front of it, and a walk-in turns a room or an alcove into a dressing area of its own.
- Every wardrobe is designed to your wall — width, height to the ceiling, corners and alcoves.
- Indicatively: hinged needs about 60 cm of depth, sliding 65–70 cm, a walk-in a room at least 2.4 m wide.

Hinged, sliding or walk-in?
The three types solve different space problems. The table shows what each one asks for and what it gives.

Hinged wardrobe
The classic solution, with leaves that open outwards. It gives the most freedom inside — drawers, trays, rails — because you see the whole wardrobe at once. It needs free space in front for the doors to open.
Sliding wardrobe
The leaves slide one in front of the other. It is the choice for narrow rooms or when the bed sits close to the wardrobe. The depth is slightly greater for the mechanism, and you see half the interior at a time.
Walk-in closet
A dressing space you step into: shelves and rails on one, two or three walls, often with an island of drawers in the centre. It needs more space, but it makes the bedroom calmer — with no wardrobes on its walls.

Dimensions that matter
Indicative sizes — every wardrobe is designed to the exact measurements of your room.
Depth
Hanging clothes on a standard hanger need about 60 cm of clear depth. A sliding wardrobe adds 5–10 cm for the door mechanism. In a walk-in, shelves can be shallower, 40–60 cm, depending on what they hold.
Height
We usually design up to the ceiling, so no dust and no wasted space collect above the wardrobe. The top section holds what you use rarely.
Space for a walk-in
With shelving on two facing walls, the room needs to be at least 2.4 m wide, leaving a 90 cm walkway between them. With shelving on one wall only, a 60 cm walkway is enough. An alcove of 1.5 × 2 m can become a small L-shaped walk-in.
Corners and alcoves
Corner solutions, bridge («a ponte») wardrobes over the bed and built-in wardrobes in an alcove use space that a ready-made wardrobe leaves empty.
Interior organisation
The interior is what you use every day — and it is designed together with the exterior.
Hanging zones at two heights, for shirts and for dresses and coats. Soft-close drawers, trays for jewellery and watches, holders for belts and ties, pull-out trouser rails, shelves and drawers for shoes. LED lighting with a sensor on the door or along the shelves. In a walk-in, an island with drawers and a glass top becomes the centre of the space.
Materials & finishes
Wardrobe doors follow the same logic as kitchen fronts.
Lacquer, matt or gloss, for a uniform colour; veneer for natural wood grain; fabric or leather on the doors for a warm feel in the bedroom; glass and mirror for light and depth; solid wood for a classic or country style. The materials guide explains durability and care for each.

We design the exterior and the interior together, in three dimensions. Free and with no obligation.
3. Quote
Based on the study we give you a complete quote — doors, interiors, lighting and fitting.
4. Order & measurement
With the order comes the precision measurement in your home.
5. Production in Italy
The house builds the wardrobe to your measurements, in 4–12 weeks.
6. Delivery & installation
Our own team delivers and installs, keeping you informed at every stage.
What drives the cost
We do not have a wardrobe price list, because each one is designed to the room's measurements. Five things move the price.
The linear metres and the height. The type — a walk-in with an island costs more than a hinged wardrobe of the same length. The interiors — drawers, trays and special holders add value and cost. The finish — lacquer, leather and solid wood sit above melamine. Lighting and mechanisms. We will give you an exact quote after the design study and 3D visualisation.

Questions about wardrobes and walk-ins
Walk-in or a conventional wardrobe?
A walk-in is worth it when you have a room or alcove at least 2.4 m wide and want your clothes visible and organised without doors. In a smaller bedroom, a hinged or sliding wardrobe up to the ceiling gives the same capacity in less space.
How much space does a walk-in need?

How long does delivery take?

It depends on the linear metres, the type, the interiors, the finish and the lighting. We have no price list; we will give you an exact quote after the design study and 3D visualisation, which are free.
