Corner solutions
The corner is the deepest and the most awkward cabinet in a kitchen. Here we show how it is built, which mechanisms bring its contents forward, and what each house states about them.
In short
A corner comes down to two decisions: how the cabinet itself is built, and which mechanism goes inside it.
- The corner cabinet affects its neighbours. If drawers sit next to it, a filler piece is needed, or they will not open properly.
- Every mechanism has its own load limit, from 10 to 25 kg per basket in the details of the houses we curate.
- Some mechanisms need a door that opens wide enough, or a door of a specific width. That is settled on the drawing, before the order.
- The right mechanism for a corner depends on its real dimensions and on what you will store there — not on the photograph.

The cabinet first
Three ways to build the corner, and what each one changes for the cabinets beside it.
Corner base unit with an upright
Gentili Cucine has a corner base unit with a 6 × 6 cm upright, precisely so that drawers or pull-out units can sit next to the corner. The upright can be reduced to 5 × 5 cm. GF Interiors has a one-door corner base unit with a 90° filler in variable sizes, with a minimum of 6 cm on the hinge side.
“Linear” corner base unit
Without an upright, Gentili Cucine's price list calls for a filler of at least 5 cm if a drawer unit or pull-out mechanism sits next to it. If a base unit with a door sits next to it, that door will not open fully — and a filler is recommended there too. The same rule applies to the corner tall unit.
L-shaped corner base unit
Gentili Cucine also has an L-shaped corner base unit, with two hinged or two folding doors. It cannot be combined with the Linea, Step and Sail Line handle profiles.

Names and details are Gentili Cucine's. The corner base unit also takes the “Magic Corner Hyper” with four 10 kg baskets.
“Hyper” revolving baskets
For a 93 × 93 cm corner base unit: two three-quarter-circle baskets in pressed, painted sheet metal that turn around a central axis. Maximum load 15 kg per basket.
Gentili Cucine · Hyper revolving baskets mechanism
“Hyper” half-moon baskets
Half-moon shaped baskets that swing out of the corner, for a 103 cm corner base unit with a 40 cm door or 108 cm with a 45 cm door. Load 15 kg per basket. The door cannot be reduced.

“Slide Corner Hyper” mechanism
Two painted sheet-metal shelves that come out of the corner, for a 108 cm corner base unit with a 45 cm door or 123 cm with a 60 cm door. Load 20 kg per shelf.

Corner tall unit “Magic Corner Hyper”
The same idea in a tall unit: eight sliding baskets in painted sheet metal, with full extension, bringing forward whatever sits deep in the corner. Load 60 kg in total.

What other houses state
The same solutions, under other names and with other limits.
Febal Casa
Febal Casa states three families of baskets for a corner base or tall unit. The shaped baskets carry 20 kg each, with soft close as an option. The “Le Mans” baskets are height-adjustable and carry 25 kg each. The metal baskets come out as a pair, in two stages, carry 10 kg each and have integrated soft close. All three mechanisms need a door that opens to at least 85°. In the corner wall unit, the hinge opens to 165°.
GF Interiors
GF Interiors uses two tray mechanisms, “Compact 2” and “Combi's 2”, in both corner base units and corner tall units. For widths of 114.5 to 129.5 cm, with closed sides and shelves in Grigio Orione, full extension and soft close. Its corner cabinets come with one or two doors.

How we think about it
Our own approach, not a price-list fact.
We start from what you will keep in the corner. Heavy pans need a mechanism with a high load per basket. Small, light things gain from many baskets that bring what sits at the back to the front.
Then we look at the neighbouring cabinets. If the corner meets a drawer unit, the filler or the upright is not a detail — it is what lets the drawers open.
And sometimes the best answer is simple: a corner cabinet for things you rarely use, and the mechanism budget spent somewhere else.

Frequently asked questions
Which corner mechanism carries the most weight?
In the price lists we examined, Febal Casa's “Le Mans” baskets state 25 kg each and Gentili Cucine's “Slide Corner Hyper” shelves 20 kg each. The “Magic Corner Hyper” corner tall unit states 60 kg in total, spread over eight baskets.
Why does the corner need a filler piece?
Because without it the drawer unit or door next to the corner does not open properly. Gentili Cucine's price list asks for at least 5 cm when a drawer unit or pull-out mechanism sits next to it.
Can the corner base unit have a narrower door?
It depends on the mechanism. For Gentili Cucine's “Hyper” half-moon baskets, the price list states that the doors cannot be reduced.
