Glass display units

Gentili Cucine's Telaio Metal is a 22 mm aluminium frame, in Acciaio Satinato, Nero or Brunito, with the grip formed in the rails and stiles. It does not take external, integrated or recessed handles.

On Gentili Cucine's units with a glass door, the standard version is Telaio Metal and Slim is an option; Slim is not made in the 19 mm finishes.

Febal Casa offers two aluminium frames for glass units: “Standard”, 2.2 × 4.5 cm in section, in satin, black or champagne anodised, opening with an integrated handle, with no handle or with push-pull; and “Tecno”, 2.2 × 5.5 cm, in black anodised, with the grip built into the profile on all 4 sides.

Origina also has a wooden glass-unit frame: solid ash painted white or solid oak, open-pore, 20.5 mm thick, or lacquered MDF 22 mm, with a channel that takes the glass.

On Febal Casa's Opera and Armonia, the glass unit has a solid ash frame in the same section and finish as the door; the rail has a removable part for fitting the glass, and solid glazing bars (inglesina) can be added as an option.

GF Interiors makes two aluminium glass units, and the main difference is how the door hangs. Evans has a frame with an asymmetric section and uses the same hinges as the rest of the range; on Evans Air the hinges are hidden inside the bottom and the top of the cabinet. Both frames come in Ox Nero or Ox Bronzo.

Scandola Mobili, in its 2023 kitchen price list, offers a door with an aluminium frame and soft-close hinges, and the wooden Optima framed door with glass. On its open units with a glass-aluminium door, closing is soft, the handle is integrated, and the frame resembles the Piombo V104 finish.

At Gentili Cucine and Febal Casa the glass in a glass unit is 4 mm, and Febal Casa states it is tempered (temperato).

On Origina's wooden and lacquered glass units, Febal Casa offers three glasses: clear fluted (cannettato), shaped on the outer face, Stopsol and clear smoked. On the “Tecno” frame the glass is clear smoked.

Scandola Mobili, in its 2023 price list, states extra-clear, satin, smoked or decorated glass; on the open units with a glass-aluminium door, the glass is Fumè Grigio or satin.

Bronze

GF Interiors offers smoked or bronze glass for Evans and Evans Air, and Stopsol in two tones, BR and FM.

In Pedini's Aroma 2.0 catalogue, one composition has glass wall units with a Metallik Oro frame and bronze glass.

Screen-printed and decorated

On Febal Casa's Opera and Armonia, the glass-unit glass is screen-printed, semi-transparent and tempered, 4 mm.

GF Interiors also has two glasses with a black screen print, “nido d’ape” (honeycomb) and “seamless”.

Scandola Mobili's decorated glass is a geometric hexagonal pattern on extra-clear glass.

Likewise, Gentili Cucine offers open base units with a framed glass door in heights of 36 to 96 cm, and wall units in heights of 36 to 132 cm; the 36 cm wall unit with a partition is not made in finishes with only one visible side.

At Gentili Cucine, glass with Telaio Metal comes as a hinged door, a flap door (vasistas), a bifold door (pacchetto) and on the traslata and vela mechanisms; Telaio Slim as a hinged door only.

On Febal Casa's Modula, the glass wall unit is hinged, pull-up, “Lift” or “Vela”, and the drainer unit also takes two folding glass doors. For how each mechanism works, see Openings & handles.

Febal Casa also has a glass unit above a tall unit (sopracolonna), with a hinged or pull-up glass door, and in the Tradizione range an end glass wall unit for the end of a run.

GF Interiors offers Evans and Evans Air as wall units 39 to 117 cm high, base units 39 to 78 cm, tall units of 216 and 235.5 cm, including a glass tall unit for an oven, and over-column glass units of 39 and 58.5 cm. Wall units are 33 cm deep, tall and base units 33 or 61 cm, plus the door.

Scandola Mobili, in its 2023 price list, offers a wall unit with one or two glass-aluminium doors, a tall unit with one, and open units with a glass-aluminium door.

On sizes the houses differ: on the 2026 Modula the “Standard” frame is also made to non-standard sizes, while “Tecno” and Origina's wooden glass units are not; GF Interiors offers a glass door outside standard sizes; and at Gentili Cucine the sizes of Telaio Metal are restricted.

At GF Interiors shelves are not included in the glass units: the standard shelf is 6 mm thick, there is a smoked glass shelf, and special 3 cm shelves for bottles and for glasses, made of a Metal grey aluminium frame carrying an 8 mm black stratified top.

For its glass units it also offers an internal base 27 cm high, with two drawers faced in eco-leather.

The back panel of its glass units is 6 mm as standard and can be made in another finish, with a thickness that depends on the finish.

On Scandola Mobili's open units, the back panel can have a different finish from the carcase.

Scandola Mobili's Eclettica 2022 catalogue shows how the three work together: tall units with clear glass in aluminium doors, and inside them glass shelves, LED lighting and an oak back panel.
