Ascale invisible kitchen: the hob inside the sintered stone worktop

In short: the manufacturer Ascale presents the “invisible kitchen”: an induction hob under a sintered stone worktop, so that the cooking surface is the worktop itself. When you are not cooking, the whole worktop stays free. Below we set out what the manufacturer says and what we confirm ourselves before any design.

The hob has always been the part that breaks up the worktop: a black glass window, with edges and joints around it. The invisible kitchen starts from the opposite idea, that the worktop can be one continuous surface with the hob sitting underneath.

How it works, as Ascale describes it

Ascale integrates the induction hob under the worktop with a technology it calls “TPB Tech”. The cooking surface is the worktop itself and, when you switch off, the hob is not visible on the surface.

  • Made to measure. The hobs are made to the customer’s measurements: you choose how many there will be, how they are arranged and what size they are.
  • Controls. The controls can be touch or manual.

What you gain

  • More work surface. Without the black glass of a conventional hob, the entire worktop stays available.
  • Kitchens of any size. Because the cooking zone is inside the worktop, a small kitchen gains space.
  • Easy cleaning. The worktop is cut in one piece, with no joints or edges where the hob would normally meet the worktop. Ascale states that a cloth and plain soap are enough.

Why sintered stone

The worktop is sintered stone, in Greek “pyrosyssomatomeni petra”, which Ascale calls “porcelain” on its page. Ascale describes it as resistant to scratches, knocks and temperature changes, non-porous and antibacterial. For a kitchen worktop that works every day, these are exactly the characteristics you are looking for.

The manufacturer also admits the limitation: sintered stone does not come in as many shades as other materials. The look of the kitchen changes mainly through the combination with the cabinets.

  • Natura for a warm, “homely” look, with cabinets in solid shades such as white or petrol blue, depending on the light in the space.
  • Cemento and Metal for a bolder result, preferably with plain cabinets in contrasting tones.

What the page does not say and what we confirm ourselves

The Ascale page does not mention worktop thickness, hob power, type of cookware or how the surface behaves in the heat of prolonged cooking. We do not assume any of this. Before any design we ask the manufacturer for it and write it into the study, together with the layout of the zones and the way it is controlled.

Our own proposal for a hob under the stone is the Invisacook invisible hob, with a worktop in Ascale sintered stone as the first choice. The idea is shared, but these are different systems, and which one suits your kitchen we decide in the study. If you also want to hide the extractor, read our guide to the invisible cooking zone.
